While being bed-fast from injuries sustained in a fall downstairs, television watching was the extend of "exercise" I could muster... During this time Oprah Winfrey featured herself doing Taebo with Billy Blank in a Paradise setting... The sparkle in his eyes and the natural childhood delight participants displayed, caught my attention... It was like a magnet drawing me into their fun... BUT PAIN prevented me for doing the bouncing fast movements these physically fit people could do... In spite of this, I ordered his videos and affirmed giving the movements a slow motion daily try... DESIRE TO HAVE their type of fitness inspired me to also set out to discover a method to make exercise a delightful and very rewarding experience for people afflicted with health challenges!

After a long Internet search, the solution emerged from understanding that ALL exercise is designed to INCREASE the depth of breathing... WHY EXERCISE?

Improving the body's aerobic capacity by doing aerobic exercise, greatly reduces the work the heart has to do. This provides a wide margin of safety towards preventing complications from coronary problems. Exercise also improves problems with insulin resistance (especially important with Type II - adult onset – diabetes). It trains the muscles to use fat as their fuel. Exercise releases chemicals in the brain that improves your moods. If you really like to eat, exercising puts the body in a higher activity factor so you are REQUIRED to eat more food in order to meet the body's daily protein requirements!

But if you are overweight to the point where you just can't exercise, or if you are in a personal situation that doesn't allow you to exercise… You can still lose fat very nicely by following the Zone balanced protein/carbs nutritional plan and BodyFlex aerobic breathing.

HOW MUCH FAT CAN I LOSE?

Every one lives a different lifestyle…. has different genetics… and hormonal balance. Some will just seem to have the fat fall off their bodies. For others fat loss seems painfully slow. Also fat loss can change from week to week, or from season to season. This is normal. Don't be discouraged by it.

Without exercising, on the Zone program, you probably won't lose more than about 1 to 1-1/2 pounds of fat per week. Exceptionally heavy people might lose a little more because of fluids excreted the first week or two on the Zone… this may amount to several pounds. But if more than about 1-1/2 pounds per week is lost after that, it's possible lose from something other than fat. (THIS is why I was concerned when I began loosing so much per week… But I feet great, skin don't appear to be sagging, et cetera… Time and others experiences with the Fat Be Gone MAGIC Zone system will reveal if his traditional concept level for what's probable holds true.)

With exercise you can lose more fat and tone muscle... One hour of exercise can burn some 300 to 1,000 calories, more or less, depending on your fitness level and intensity of the exercise. If you can burn off 3,500 calories that will equal one pound of fat. So burning 500 calories each day will add one pound a week to your fat loss. (Actually, a little less than one pound because the extra exercise will increase your protein requirements and the additional blocks will add a few calories.)

HOW DO I KNOW I AM LOSING FAT?

Keep track of your waist and hip measurement. Fat stores are concentrated in the abdomen and hips. If you lose muscle tissue or water it will come from somewhere else. Losing fat will be recognized because clothes start feeling too big. This happens before seeing any change on the scale. The scale might even go up while your waist and hips get smaller, especially if you're exercising. This is because you're building muscle which weights more in a smaller volume. Fat takes up more space for the same weight. Pay more attention to size than weight.

An excellent clue is when friends and family start saying that you look like you are losing weight (even though you know that the scale hasn't budged). What they are seeing is fat loss.
